Matthew relocated to Nevada in 2007 after earning a B.S. in Construction Management from California State University, Chico. A few years later, Matthew completed an M.B.A. from the University of Nevada, Reno. Matthew and his wife, Dr. Tara Madden-Dent moved to Incline Village in 2009
With more than 20 years of hospitality, customer service, and project management experience, his exclusive blend of professional skills are ideal for a Trustee. Matthew has served on a variety of executive teams overseeing projects in California and Nevada totaling more than $500 million. He is currently president of a real estate redevelopment company, an executive for a higher education consulting company, and has served as IVGID Trustee since his appointment on September 16, 2015.
When appointed to Trustee the Board asked, “Why do you want to do this?” Matthew's response, “I want to serve my community, I can add value, and I think it will be FUN!” Of course the role requires significant amounts of time and effort but he still maintains, "it is fun."
In 2016, Matthew ran for the seat he was appointed to and was elected on November 8, 2016 to a 4 year term. Matthew received 25% more votes than any previous Trustee to run for office. The community can entrust in him to represent their concerns, issues and ideas while upholding board policy, and the District accountable.
Over the next 4 years Matthew's primary focus will be on fiscal transparency, communication, and planning.
In his spare time, Matthew enjoys volunteering for several local and national organizations, spending time with friends, boating, skiing, golfing, and playing chess with Tara.
